Restoration Rooted in Skill, Sensitivity and a Love for Craft
Fox and Elder Workshop is a furniture restoration studio founded by Emma, a formally trained conservator with a BA (Hons) in Furniture Conservation, Restoration and Decorative Arts from Buckinghamshire New University. Alongside her degree, Emma completed specialist training in French upholstery and woodcarving, further developing her understanding of traditional furniture-making and restoration techniques. She also holds the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers (AMUSF) Level 2 Intermediate Craft Certificate in Upholstery, as well as a PGCE in Secondary Education (Design and Technology), reflecting both her practical expertise and commitment to continued professional development.
Her work blends academic training, hands-on experience and a genuine passion for bringing furniture back to life. Emma established Fox and Elder Workshop with the aim of restoring the beauty, integrity and functionality of well-loved furniture through careful, honest and skilled craftsmanship. Whether undertaking sympathetic repairs, conservation-led restoration, traditional upholstery or fine finishing, every project is approached with meticulous attention to detail and respect for the original piece.
If you’re seeking something truly unique, Emma also welcomes enquiries for bespoke furniture commissions. Whether you have a clear vision or would like to develop an idea from the ground up, she is happy to work with you to design and create furniture that is both beautiful and functional.
